Everything about it was fantastic. Everything was so easy and smooth. A ton of people want us to do another one.

“Everything about it was fantastic. Everything was so easy and smooth. A ton of people want us to do another one.

We had people on our teams meeting before work to walk for an hour, and they’re still currently doing that and this is months and months after the challenge is over. People still walk in the halls, but they’re also still doing those things that they weren’t doing beforehand.

It’s economical and easy to use. And so if it’s economical and easy to use then, why wouldn’t you? It’s a no-brainer. It’s easy to implement. All of us wellness coordinators never have enough time or enough money for anything, so it’s something you can set some funds aside for and something you don’t need to be on top of every second of every day, and it’s nice that it kind of runs itself.”

When the challenges end, I get constant inquiries about when the next one will start. It has really enhanced the employee comaraderie.

“When the challenges end, I get constant inquiries about when the next one will start.

It has really enhanced the employee camaraderie. Players are assigned to teams with 4-5 coworkers. The chat feature gets them to talk to each other. In a lot of instances, it is coworkers that don’t normally communicate. So I think it has caused a great morale builder. Our leaders have been an active part of the competitions so they get to interact with employees they may not usually have the chance to.

In the office, people have purchased bikes for under their desks. Employees will get up with coworkers and go out to walk around for 10 minutes or so a couple times a day.

Our drivers are getting out of the trucks during down times to walk the jobsite or just to move instead of sitting in truck waiting.

There are multiple reasons that Fix Health has been a huge success at Chaney Enterprises.”

The success of this program has been like no other.

“I have been involved with group health plans for many years. As the Vice President of Health Risk Management and a Registered Nurse, I am concerned about members with chronic and developing chronic diseases.

Obesity runs rampant in our groups. Lack of exercise is a major problem. When I was looking for a walking program, I ran across A Step Ahead. At first I was skeptical but after a trial with a large think tank, a very difficult client, I was sold.

Not only were members “moving” but they were also exercising more. And what I didn’t count on was the mental health aspect. Employees were chatting with each other and smiling. No one wanted to be caught by the zombies! The success of this program has been like no other. Since the trial, I have implemented in many other groups and never have I had a group that didn’t like it! I highly recommend.”

This is by far the most engaging company step challenge I’ve participated in.

“This is by far the most engaging company step challenge I’ve participated in. The integration with the smart phone and Fitbit is the killer combo for me; it removed the annoying aspects of challenges like this which usually make me quit after a couple weeks.”

– Garry V.

I started this challenge 30 lbs away from where I felt I should be in life and now I can tell you I am only 20 lbs away. I am fitting back into the jeans I have not worn for 2.5 years…

“The Zombie challenge was a lot of fun and I wanted to thank you and the team for making this happen. Sometimes it is very difficult to find motivation to make healthy choices especially in a job like this where you could be coming home after a 16 hour day or worked with high stress situations.

With the Zombie challenge I would find that I would get home and think, I better not let my team down, and then go and jump on the treadmill or go out for a walk/run. We have a weight bench in our house as well and this game not only motivated me to dust the considerable cobwebs off of it but also show my son some exercises that will make him a better baseball player.

Most days of the week when I would go out for walks/runs my family would join me or work out my son would be there. I think they were annoyed about food choices I made half the time but all of us saw results. We all seem in better moods and have noted that when things happen they are easier to roll with.

I started this challenge 30 lbs away from where I felt I should be in life and now I can tell you I am only 20 lbs away. I am fitting back into the jeans I have not worn for 2.5 years and when I coach baseball I find I have a lot more energy.

While the challenge was for us who joined up I found it helped my entire family. So from us to you all thank you and we are looking forward to the next chapter.”

Before this game, my breaks were to the kitchen and to the candy from the candy bowl.

“This game pushed me to walk on my breaks outside the building, especially since the surroundings of our facilities are pleasant to walk. Before this game, my breaks were to the kitchen and to eat the candy from the candy bowl.”

– Maureen A.

It was absolutely the most fun walking challenge I’ve ever participated in.

“It was absolutely the most fun walking challenge I’ve ever participated in. It had us encouraging one another to stay engaged, whereas other programs where you’re left to manually enter your steps using a step tracker often left me disinterested very quickly. The ability to integrate with Fitbit is a huge plus for me, as it removed the barrier of tracking and entering steps and workouts separately.”

– Daniel B.

I just about doubled my daily steps with this and now that it’s almost over I am keeping up with it.

“ Even though I am a walker I improved my walking with this challenge. It pushed me to do more and made me more conscious of walking and that I should be more active. I just about doubled my daily steps with this and now that it’s almost over I am keeping up with it. Getting healthier every day.”

– Andy F.

I have lost a total of 21 pounds as of today, and fully intend to keep it up.

“I was hesitant, at first, to sign up for the challenge, but at the last minute I decided to give it a try. Each day I felt challenged to log more steps than I had the previous day. As I began to feel stronger, I also started making changes in my dietary choices, adding more fruits and vegetables and cutting out junk food.

When our Middle School Head, Sheri, and Science Teacher, Rob, went to drill the well in Nicaragua for the “Living Well Project,” I gave up all beverages except water for the week. I felt much better without the diet soda and coffee, so I have kept on drinking only water since then. Every day I was excited to see how many miles I had logged, and knowing every 10,000 steps was 5 miles made a very clear picture in my mind of my progress.

It was fun seeing teammates in the hallway and comparing steps, joking with those on other teams as well. As the end of the 6 weeks came to a close I feel great, I have lost a total of 21 pounds as of today, and fully intend to keep it up.

Thanks for being the motivation to jump start my getting back on the right track!”

One of my teammates and I now have a regular walking schedule during the workday.

“This game was a lot of fun and truly motivated me to push myself a little more each day to get more “power”. One of my teammates and I now have a regular walking schedule during the workday.

That short break to walk a couple laps around our building is a priority and when I get back to my desk I feel refreshed and ready to take on the next challenge. It works better than coffee! The chat feature was awesome and my team used it to motivate each other outside of work hours. Now our only concern is how to continue to motivate ourselves and each other to keep up these good habits without the zombies chasing us!”

– Eileen L.

We have done many challenges through our workplace health and safety committee but this was by far the best one yet!

“We have done many challenges through our workplace health and safety committee but this was by far the best one yet! It required actual participation (not just tracking based on the honor system) which promoted greater physical activity.

The in app messaging kept our team engaged and supporting one another in reaching our goals. I hope we do this challenge again and that there will be other variations like it.”

– Dora T.

This game was a great team builder.

“This game was a great team builder. We took the opportunity to go on group walks or workout together at lunch. We learned a lot about each other and held each other accountable. Everyone got out there moving so as not to let the team down. This is the most I’ve ever exercised. Overall it was a great experience.” lol

– Jakob B.

This game was so fun! There was so much teamwork, encouragement, and yes, lots of steps and exercise.

“This game was so fun! There was so much teamwork, encouragement, and yes, lots of steps and exercise. We were all disappointed when it ended and immediately started looking for some other way to continue an exercise challenge to get us through the Holidays. We all are in much better shape.”

This challenge was a great team building exercise that brought people together.

“This challenge was a great team building exercise that brought people together. So, instead of walking alone we walked in groups and got to know each other better. Also the healing of teammates showed that we cared about the individuals and the team.”

I really liked how it works for every fitness level.

“I was relatively new to my company when the Outbreak challenge was announced. It was a great team building experience! I interacted a lot more with my coworkers because we took walks together and cheered each other on. I really liked how it works for every fitness level. Personally, I walked a lot more because of this challenge. My family started walking with me to keep me company and we spent some quality time together away from all devices. I hope we repeat this adventure soon!”

It is quite amazing to walk around the office and hear, “Oh, s**t. I have to do my push ups now.

“In regards to the mood over here, it’s actually pretty incredible. We have gotten some really great feedback and even threats circulating the office. For example:

– I was recently told that I don’t know what I’ve started. There is a war going on now and it’s all my fault hahaha.
– I’ve been threatened that my team was too close in the running to another team and that if I thought I was running from zombies, then it’s not true and that I should be afraid of running from the co-workers that want to trip you as you walk by.
– I’ve been told about stories of individual treadmills bought for personal use at work as well as the numerous blisters from our heavy hitters.

So it sounds like everyone is really enjoying it and having an awesome time. It is quite amazing to walk around the office and hear, “Oh, s**t. I have to do my push ups now.” lol

Thanks for your team’s hard work.”

– Christopher H.

I love the way that this challenge gets everyone in the company moving.

“I love the way that this challenge gets everyone in the company moving. This is especially apparent on Campus in FL. It’s great to go on a walk and see people walking with their team and just moving about. We all know it’s because of the challenge.

This challenge has helped our team push ourselves more than we thought we could and depend on other people within our team to do their part, and even if someone is not able to do their part, be there to help for the good of the overall team. Overall Love the Challenge it’s great.”

– Dominic G.

The increasing goals each week were a great motivator to add more time in my schedule to walk.

“Doing The Outbreak Challenge really motivated me to exercise. The increasing goals each week were a great motivator to add more time in my schedule to walk. The best reward was beating my prior day’s steps.”

The members of my team were spread over the US so we were in different time zones and had fun talking with each other, motivating each other to walk more steps, and helping to fight the zombies.

“I work in the UK and left it too late to create a team in the UK. But I created a login and was added to a team. As a global company the members of my team were spread over the US so we were in different time zones and had fun talking with each other, motivating each other to walk more steps, and helping to fight the zombies. This was a great aspect of the game, we nailed it!”

– Connie V.

It was an enjoyable catalyst to a healthier lifestyle and I look forward to continuing this more active lifestyle.

I love this game and am hoping our company continues to use it for a long time.

“I love this game and am hoping our company continues to use it for a long time. It’s fun, and promotes camaraderie, and enjoyable competitiveness amongst coworkers. It also drives me to do a lot more walking, which is a great thing. When it ends, I honestly lose a lot of my drive to exercise.”

– Albert L.

It fostered some great team building for us as well, as well as a healthy challenge with other groups.

“I thought this game was really fun! It fostered some great team building for us as well, as well as a healthy challenge with other groups. I was on a bit of a workout dry spell due to being out of town for our wedding, but having this ready when I got back meant I really pushed to get back into shape, and it helped!”

Throughout The Outbreak Challenge, my team developed great camaraderie and organized daily walks to get out of the office.

I now break up my work day much better to get in some extra steps/activity when I can spare some extra minutes.

“I was unsure of this app challenge when I first saw posters, mostly because I didn’t understand what it was, but it ended up being such a fun way to improve my activity levels!

I really enjoyed the team aspect as I got to know a lot of my co-workers better in the process as we were able to bond more going on little walks throughout the day. Also, the friendly competition was really fun and engaging! I now break up my work day much better to get in some extra steps/activity when I can spare some extra minutes. I wasn’t tracking steps before but knew that 10,000 should be a minimum.

Well, when I started tracking I was only getting in 6,000-7,000 steps a day, and that was even adding in some extra walks with co-workers. I now have a Fitbit and have been tracking daily and have a goal of 12,000-15,000 steps a day and am hoping to keep improving!”

– Debbie J.
